Keyless vehicle theft tricks your vehicle into thinking the keys are nearby if your keys in the house are close enough to the car on the drive. Invest in a signal-blocking pouch for your keys. Never leave your car with the engine running even for the shortest time – it only takes a second for a thief to jump in and drive away.
• Always Remove Valuables From Your Car – If possible don’t leave anything visible. Make sure anything surplus to the vehicle’s interior is hidden out of sight in the boot or covered.
• Always Lock Your Car or Van – Sounds obvious, doesn’t it? But you’d be surprised how many people don’t bother or forget to lock their vehicles. Some newer vehicles have doors which lock automatically, but many don’t.
• Always Park In Secure, Well-Lit Places – Parking somewhere secure and well-lit will deter a lot of thieves who want a quick, easy, get-away without any witnesses or CCTV. If you have a drive at home and more than one car, park the least valuable vehicle in front of the more valuable one.
